Sony’s latest State of Play gave us a new look and behind the scenes at the upcoming Insomniac Games title coming to PlayStation.

New ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ Gameplay Trailer: A Bloody Good Time

During the PlayStation Showcase back on September 9th, 2021, fans witnessed the next title that Marvel’s Spider-Man developer, Insomniac Games would tackle, Wolverine. The reveal trailer which lasts for fifty-three seconds opens with a destroyed bar, with people scattered about unconscious. We see our titular hero sitting at the bar table wearing a cowboy hat and red plaid shirt. He takes a sip of his drink, and in the background we see someone wake up, they sneak up to Logan with a knife ready to stab him. Logan realises this and readies the claws on his right hand before the trailer closes out with the logo simply titled Wolverine. No release date was given at the time but luckily with today’s Sony State of Play, over four years later we finally have gameplay footage, behind the scenes footage and a release window. Additionally we will have more information on the upcoming title in Spring 2026. You can view the gameplay trailer and behind the scenes below:

What Happens In The ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ Trailer?

The trailer opens with a quick tease of the full trailer. We see an angry Logan, his face covered in blood growling, followed by him stabbing an armored enemy with his claws. In both shots, we see him wearing the plaid shirt and (later) cowboy hat from the reveal trailer. The next shot shows Logan in his Wolverine suit, facing off against Omega Re,d who’s choking Logan with his coils.

The trailer begins with our first voiceline from Logan (voiced by Liam McIntyre), “Been fighting longer than I can remember.” In a snowy forest, Wolverine obliterates an armored enemy. The Insomniac Games (revamped in a Wolverine theme) and Marvel Games logo appears. We see Logan approaching the Princess Bar (the one from the reveal trailer). He continues, “I’d like to say I’m not a violent man,” a helicopter is shown flying across the ocean, followed by Logan in his suit pouncing on an enemy “but trouble just has a way of finding me.”

We see a brief shot of Logan on a motorcycle, followed by him fighting in the snowy wilderness of Canada and the streets of what appears to be Tokyo. We see more of the combat and even a look at one of his finishing moves. Logan is running on a rooftop. We see him slide and leap, followed by him taking down an enemy in a burning setting. We revisit the shot of his fight with Omega Red; it’s the same as before.

We see an injured Logan with seemingly part of his adamantium skull exposed, readying his claws. We see a brief shot of someone with a gun running and Logan clenching his hand in the snow. The person with the gun is ready to shoot Logan but he pops out his claws and growls. We see Logan start attacking an even larger enemy who appears to be human with cybernetic implants covering their entire body. We revisit the shot of him stabbing a soldier followed by falling down the side of a cliff using his claws to stop himself. Logan rides his motorcycle off a log and jumps off of it onto a truck he attacks a soldier guarding the top.

We get a close-up of a soldier who quickly reveals themself as Mystique, she proceeds to take out a few enemies. Logan is swinging from cables and we see him kick an enemy into a pool of lava. The final line of dialogue says “‘Cuz I ain’t no hero. I’m Wolverine”, we see a close-up of Logan wearing his suit as he pops out his claws. Finally the logo for the game simply titled Wolverine is shown. Right after the logo we see Logan ready to face off with a Sentinel.

Read the official synopsis below:
