How ‘Superman’ Connects To ‘Supergirl’ Explained

Announced together, alongside other projects, back in January 2023, Superman and Supergirl are the first two ventures into cinema by DC Studios, the latest attempt at unifying the world of DC in film and TV. Now that Superman has finally been released, we can dive into its overt connections to Supergirl and her mythos.

Superman follows Kal-El (David Corenswet), an alien who was sent to Earth as a child following the destruction of Krypton. In the film, he comes face to face with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who has it out against the powerful protector of Earth, all while he faces a growing geopolitical threat and struggles to take care of the superpowered pooch Krypto.

Supergirl Cameo In ‘Superman’ Explained

Supergirl actually cameos in James Gunn’s Superman, appearing in the final scene of the film. She enters the scene, crash-landing in the Fortress of Solitude. She enters the scene, where Superman is getting ready to be healed yet again by yellow sunlight following his final battle with Ultraman and The Engineer.

Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) is drunk and comes to the Fortress to retrieve Krypto, revealing that Superman had been looking after the superpowered dog whilst she was off world. Krypto runs towards her and plays incredibly rough, slamming her head into the ground repeatedly, creating a crater whilst Kara giggles. She gets up, thanks Clark with a cheeky “thanks bitch,” and leaves ready to take on her own adventure.

Clark reveals to Gary (formerly known as Robot #4, played by Alan Tudyk) that Kara has been offworld partying, as Kryptonians can only get drunk under a red Sun.

What Does Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Suit Look Like?

In her Superman cameo, Milly Alcock’s Supergirl can be seen in her suit, with a coat over the top, perhaps used as a disguise, perhaps to keep her warm.

The suit itself is quite similar to David Corenswet’s Superman suit, except adapted to fit what Supergirl wears in the comics. She has a similar top half of the suit, with the House of El crest situated on the top half of the outfit. She also has a yellow belt and wears a red skirt.

Superman stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Alan Tudyk as Gary the Robot, with Milly Alcock making an uncredited appearance as Supergirl.

Milly Alcock will next appear in Supergirl, which hits theatres June 26, 2026. Superman is now playing in theatres worldwide.
