‘Superman’ Final Runtime And Ticket Sales Date

The final runtime for the DC Universe’s theatrical debut, Superman, has been revealed.

The runtime for Superman, the first film in the new DC Universe headed by DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, has been released. 

What is ‘Superman’ About?

Superman is the theatrical debut of the new DC Universe (DCU), first announced back on January 31st, 2023, when the official DC social media pages uploaded an announcement video titled “Chapter 1 – Gods and Monsters” which revealed a lineup of films and series that aim to expand on the DC brand.

Superman will follow the life of Clark Kent / Superman (David Corenswet) as he navigates a world where metahumans have existed for a long time as seen by appearances such as the Justice Gang which features the likes of Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi). Superman’s actions in the film catches the eye of the infamous Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) who declares that he needs to be stopped, with the aid of the mysterious Hammer of Borovia, Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo) and The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) he puts his plan into motion.

What Is The Runtime Of ‘Superman’?

Superman will have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes, or 129 minutes. James Gunn has also confirmed the runtime via Threads. While there aren’t any other DCU films to compare the runtime to, we can look back at other Superman debut films. See them below.

This makes James Gunn’s Superman the shortest debut film for the hero. 

When Will Tickets For ‘Superman’ Go On Sale?

Tickets for Superman will be available on June 11th at 9AM PT / 12PM ET in the US. Tickets release on the 12th for certain international regions including Australia and New Zealand.

Superman is directed by James Gunn and stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and more. The film hits theaters on July 11th, 2025.
